Counselling is the service sought by individuals in distress or in some degree of confusion, who approach for professional help to discuss and resolve their issues, in a relationship which is more systematic and confidential than friendship. The counselling services are offered in sessions, the number of sessions are decided mutually by the individual and the counsellor in the beginning, on a case to case basis.

The counsellor works with the clients to help the clients cope with challenges that the relationship is going through, while maintaining the possibility of a positive experience whatever the outcome may be.

Life skills have been defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as “abilities for adaptive and positive behaviour that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life”.

Therefore, life skills are a large group of psycho-social and interpersonal skills, which can help people, to make informed decisions, communicate effectively and develop coping and self management skills that may help an individual to lead a healthy and productive life.
